Ruckus Access Point Setup

- Connect the AP to the POE Injector and the POE Injector to the switch/router using RJ45 cables
(Make sure the POE injector is 48V, like in the photo)
- Once the AP is connected, press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds (check 2nd picture, point 1)
The AP will reset and the red light is going to come up.
Please wait a few seconds until it becomes green.
- When the PWR LED light is green and the CTL is flashing, then it means that
the AP is ready to be configured.
- In order order to configure the AP, we have to log in to our router and navigate to the
DHCP table and find the IP of the AP.
- When you find the IP, open a browser on your Laptop/PC and type that IP on the search bar.
(make sure the Laptop is connected to the same network)
In case you get a warning, press on the Advanced button and proceed to the page.
- Once you proceed, you will be navigated to the AP installation page.
Insert the SSID, Username and Passwords.
Make sure that the AP firmware is on the latest version.
When you complete the configuration, press on the Finish button.
- It will take a few minutes for the configuration to take place. Once it is completed, click on Finish
- When it’s done, refresh the page and you will be navigated to the login page.
Log in using the credentials that you inserted earlier.
- Once you log in, you will be headed to the AP’s dashboard.
- In order to enable Mesh, click on Admin&Services > System > Mesh.
Make sure to Enable Mesh and Apply - If you want to configure another AP, you have to make sure that it is the version as the first AP (US or WW) and you will need to follow the exact same steps.
11.1 DO NOT DISCONNECT THE FIRST AP (It has to be active and connected to the network)
11.2 Connect the second AP using a POE injector and connect the injector to the switch/router
11.3 Reset the AP
11.4 Wait for it configure
11.5 It will automatically get the configurations from the first AP - Once the second AP is ready, head to the dashboard of the first AP and
click on Access Points.
Here you will be able to view all the access point that are connected on
the network.
By default one of them is going to be elected as a Master and the rest are
going to be Slaves.
Here you can Edit and Restart each AP.
- Make sure to Rename and Edit the location of every AP.
- You can create or modify a Wifi network by clicking on the WI-FI Networks tab
- When all your Aps are ready please check if they are working properly by connecting to them
using a phone or a laptop and check on the dashboard if you can see the client.
- Lastly, if you need to upgrade the firmware version head to Admin&Services > Administration > Upgrade
You can either use Online Update(make sure you are connected to Internet)
or Local update (you have to download the update file)
